Regional WORKSHOP on RE, EE and Energy Access Monitoring and Reporting Framework

Monitoring of the Implementation of NREAPs, NEEAPs, AAs & Regional Reporting

The main objective of the workshop is to discuss the results of the exercise as well as assist stakeholders tackle problems that arise in data collection and computation of the national monitoring framework templates. Additionally, the workshop will seek to initiate potential collaboration between ECREEE and UEMOA to develop energy balances for the Anglophone ECOWAS member states.

The specific objectives are to:

• Address problems that arise in data collection and computation of the national monitoring templates.
• Share best practices for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) energy data management.
• Share lessons learnt from countries that developed energy information systems.
• Identify the potential synergies for incorporating indicators from the national monitoring framework reports into energy information systems.

Expected outcomes

1. Acquire knowledge improved robust national monitoring framework reports from member states that will feed into the preparation of the annual regional report.
2. Gain knowledge about best RE and EE energy data management practices and methodologies future data management exercises.
3. Gain knowledge about best practices and methodologies for the development of the national energy balances.
4. Gain understanding about using ECOWREX energy tools to make data-driven decisions.

Participants

The workshop will convene energy experts appointed by each member state to compile the national monitoring framework templates; two technical experts from two countries with Energy Information Systems; an energy data resource person; and GIZ and ECREEE staff. Approximately 25 participants are expected to participate in the workshops.
