The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), under the sponsorship of the United Nations Development Cooperation (UNDP), Austria Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW), Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and with the support of the Government of Senegal is organized a three-day validation workshop for the ECOWAS Bioenergy Policy document, ECOWAS Forest Resources Assessment Report and the WACCA Action Plan from 30th September to 2nd October 2015 in Dakar, Senegal

The Forum will brought together top-level policy and decision makers from the Ministries of Energy and Forestry in all the 15 ECOWAS Member States (MS). Other stakeholders from Civil Society Organizations, private sector actors, policy research institutions active in sustainable bioenergy promotion, and technical and financial partners supporting sustainable development, which undoubtedly promote renewable energy and energy efficiency were present in the workshop

Furthermore, the forum offered the participants the opportunity to:

• Critique the content, applicability and adoptability of the set targets and mandates that will facilitate the regional adoption and deployment of the Bioenergy Policy.
• Discuss and deliberate on the content of the draft forest resource assessment report as applied to the various countries and the region.
• Open an institutional dialogue to support not only the implementation of the regional action plan but also WACCA as a regional initiative.
• Discuss and validate the draft Bioenergy policy document, the Forest Resource Assessment Report and the WACCA Action Plan for the region
